Cat Behavior 101: Scratching Problem?

Do you have a Scratching Problem with your lil feline friend at home?
Cos there are lots of good reasons why your cat scratches and claws around the house, none having to do with a desire to destroy your expensive belongings!
Well.. err actually...using their claws is a perfectly natural feline behaviour and provides a number of positive benefits to the animal. Amongst benefits for em':
  • It helps kitties stretch and tone their shoulders and legs.
  • It sheds the older layers of nails and keeps the claws clean and smooth.
  • Kitties use clawing to mark their territory both visually and with the scent of their paw pads.
  • It reduces stress and just plain feels good!
However, if your kitty seems to have a special fondness for shredding your favorite spots in the house like your side of the bed or your recliner, according to Amy Shojai, a certified animal behavior consultant, it’s because she loves you and wants to share her scent with you....
Therefore it’s important to understand why your kitty scratches so you can direct her energies toward less destructive use of those sharp little claws.

What Should I Look for When Choosing a Kitten?

For those who loves animal and thinking of adopting a pet, let us tell you that adopting a kitten/puppy is a life-changing event. The young cat you bring home today will hopefully be with you for the next 18 years... Selecting a cat that's right for you and your home is therefore of the utmost importance. Few things you may have to consider when selecting a cat or kitten to bring home, you'll need to know how much time you have to raise a kitten, what you're looking for in terms of their personality, and how to balance the needs of other family members and pets in the home (if you have other pets).

Cat Selection

Choosing kittens can feel like trying to pick your favorite star out of the night sky. At first glance, every adorable face looks to be the perfect match. In fact, your biggest challenge when adopting a kitten will be walking away with just one whenever you drop by a pet store. Afterall how can we resist those sad looking eyes behind the cage with looks saying "pls adopt me?"

Cat Info: Whats the difference? Himalayan Persian vs Persian?

We know some of you catlovers are wondering whats this difference between a Himalayan Persian & the Persians?? The Persian cats have been around for centuries and are known for its ever thick coat and flat/semi flat faces.. And now there's Himmies Persian? who are they & how different they are from the Persian categories?

The only real noticeable difference between Persians and Himalayans is their coloring. These two breeds are so similar that the breed is often called the "Himalayan-Persian", according to Cat Fanciers' Association (variation from the Persians). Himalayan-Persians became a division of the Persian breed in 1984. The ideal Himalayan is a Persian with Siamese points. The "points" are the tail, paws, legs, face and ears. (In ancient history these Persian species were mixed breed with Siamese.. and Himmies Persians are perfected after years!).The beauty part of Himmies Persian, they too have been award winning beauties (like the Persians) in lots of cat shows the past years due to their "points" and beautiful persian furcoats.

Cat Tips: Pointers on bringing home a new Kitten/Cat

Getting a new addition to your family can be a bit exhausting —especially if you want everyone (your other pets...& you) to get along! So we found here a few suggestions via Oprah from Adopt-a-Pet.com on how to help an adopted cat or kitten begin to feel comfy in your home.

Congratulations! On being a new proud owner of a kitten/cat or just about to become one! Need advice on how to best ease your new feline friend into its new home? There's lots you can do in the first 24 hours to help your new housemate get comfortable.

Cats are totally the opposite to dogs, Unlike them, most cats really don't enjoy traveling in cars. So please do not leave them loose in your car or try to hold them in your lap or on the seat next to you, cos they might go panic and cause an accident when trying to hide or perhaps get stuck under a seat! To travel with a cat, it's safest for them to be secured in a cat carrier, lined with an easily washable towel or a few sheets of newspaper. Don't worry if they may complain by meowing...loudly...but some cats relax with soothing music or when you sing along! Once you get home safely, here are a few things to remember.

Cat Tips: Hooded Litterbox lessen Smell

We know some of you cat lovers with home pets will have this issue!
So we thought we wanna share how to lessen their litter smell and also inadvertently make your home a comfy living for both you & your pets.

One of our suggestions we reckon to lesson the smell, is to have a hooded litterbox instead a normal litter box!

why? becos they're closed up and neater and you can just put anywhere n the house without worrying the house will be messed up by your kitty with the excess sands!!
